Random question.. What is the best light to run over a small refugium? Want to grow some macro algae.

Compact flourescent flood from HD ~5000K unless you wanna go all out and get a kessil.

I ran a Kessil h80 and could barely keep macro alive. I switched to a TaoTronics grow light (the green one) and growth has been great. It screws in like a regular light bulb so very easy to use.

Mars Hydro = grows any algae like you have never seen before.
at the time i bought a deal at $60 for 2 of them on amazon. Think they went up in price because of demand

+1 for the Mars Hydro. Just have to ensure you keep it high enough above your macro as it's very powerful.

I use 2.700 K , HO for Chaeto.
