Brutus the Emerald Crab strikes again. This time he pulled Fifty Cent (1 1/2" clam) rock and all right on top of Oprah the pink trachyphilia. The top half of his mantle seems to be missing. According to Dr. Deanos, recovery is possible with proper nutrition.

i have a ruby crab (red coloring of emerald crab) that must pump weights behind the rocks at night. he's a brute! i've poked a chopstick at him several times, and he can grab the stick and actually pull and push it around. i've caught him nabbing polyps off of several of my corals and a gorgonian too, so I agree that unfortunately they are bad news. I've been trying to catch him for a week now (not even a picture) to trade him to a fellow MR'er but now he senses that I want to catch him and he scurries off when he sees me. i wish he'd square off w/ the last mantis shrimp that I have living in the tank... :(

Thus far, my emerald crabs have been really well behaved - I don't think they've been intentially eating any corals. I think they may have unintentionally done some damage to some of my zoas that have macroalgae growing in between them though. :(

Woke up this morning and Brutus was dead. He was a monster, but he had a lot of personality. I will have to get Olive a new boyfriend.

RIP
