Skimmer question?

I am trying to set up my new bermuda skimmer and can not figure out how the return works. Probably a dumb question but, is there supposed to be a cap for the top part of the return pipe?

No cap. Did you get instructions with the skimmer?

i think the opening is to filter out air bubbles. i know some that have tube adjustable to high low(dialing) which adjust how high the water level in skimmer

Shad, as Dean quoted, it's a vent. No water will flow from there. Pumps will be here early this week. Then we'll get to fire it up
