Overnight shipping rate question

Did an estimate on ups shipping to Atlanta which is not really far. Package is small and it is only 3lbs. It came out as $74 on the cheapest overnight saver. Even with 20% off, it is still $60. Lots of online seller charges $40 or lower on overnight *priority* shipping. How did they do it?
