I just started a 12 gal nano set-up, after a couple of days of running the lights on a timer I noticed smoke coming out of the ballast. I purchased a new ballast from nano-tuners, plugged in the ballast & proceeded to kickoff the GFI outlet. The new ballast has a fuse the old one did not have a fuse. Since I am not an electrician, could there be a short in the canopy? I have concerns about using this set-up & setting my house on fire. if that's the case I quess I will be selling a brand new PC ballast & buying a viper lamp.

thanks,

Danny

You sure the wiring okay and no exposed wire is getting grounded?
PC Ballasts do not trip gfci outlets unless they get grounded
If it was the fuse, it would only shut off that ballast and not trip the gfci
