i bought an in tank fuge from zanymaster and couldn't decide what to put inside it. well it wasn't until i got to NWA and saw some tiny maximas that i realized what i could do w/ the fuge.

ive placed the maximas on some small rocks inside the fuge. i'm sure we all know that baby clams must be fed w/ phyto. all i do is bring the fuge as close to the water surface as possible, turn off the pump and feed them phyto. i know phyto can be overfed so i'm not going bananas w/ it.

after a while i turn the fuge pump back on. LMK what you guys think. sorry for the crappy pics, i'll take better ones

Well, as long as the box is in your tank and drains through those holes, wanderers are bound to get in there. At least you can see them and get them out.

I think it looks good, and is a great place to start the clams out (why is NWA always just "expecting a new shipment in" whenever I drop by to see if they have anything good in stock). I've tried to set up something similar in my tank, but with only 24g to work with, that CPR would never fit, so I'm going with the plastic soap holder method from home depot.

Nice idea. Sounds like a pretty good plan. Beats having to take them out and feeding them phyto in a separate container outside the tank like lots of folks do.

A few months ago I was given a small Maxima and have been doing some research. There seem to be a lot of people who say even at a small size they can live without feedings. I feed mine about once a week now and it seems to be doing fine. I simply add the phyto to the tank, no bowl feedings. My clam has grown a little over an 1/8"(?) since Ive got it.

i bought a small maxima from HOF and it did great in my 40br for a very long period. then decided to move it into my 120 and it did fine up until i added 50lbs of LR...then it died. i guess the LR wasn't fully cured. i'm very impatient
