stupid question:
how do you dose B-Ionic?
the reason im asking is because i always see the ESV b-ionic doser for sale and it sounds like a lot of money for a measuring cup. am i mistaken and dont know how this works?
any input is appreciated.

many people use a litermeter or aquamedic doser. I do not know anyone that uses the doser that esv sells. it works with timers and air pumps, it does not sound like the most simple thing to opperate.

Actually i can help since i use one.

Believe it or not, as simple as it sounds it works pretty good. In terms of price when you factor in the air pumps (pressure rated) you can probably buy the aquamedic doser. The litermeter is way too much money for just one pump. I'll explain how it works.

It works on air pressure. The bionic makes it's way through a check valve to the metering cup at the setting that you set. When the air pumps comes on, it pressurerises the line since now the first check valve is closed and that forces the bionic to the tank. So long as the pump is on it remains pressurised not allowing any more bionic to fill the cup. Then when the pump goes off, it has another check valve with a air bleeder hole that allows the air to escape and depressurise it. Now the bionic flows back to the metered setting until the next days dose. Hope i covered all the bases.

The reason i went with this is because i already had one air pump so buying one more with the doser was still cheaper than the other units. It's suimple but it works. Just make sure you follow their instructions so that it operates optimally.

I use the 2 part ESV -- I add 1 cap full of part 1 and 2 every other day -
I thought long and hard about a doser -- what I'm doing now works great -- If my cal gets to high I skip a day or 2 -- ( If you like the coraline algee use this stuff )

again this is just my opinion and you know what opinions are like ---holes and everyone hase one!

isnt there any other way? not ready to spend so much to dose.
would something like this work? http://www.drsfostersmith.com/produ...&Ntx=mode+matchallpartial&Np=1&pc=1&N=0&Nty=1

That won't work because you need to dose them separately. You could just do what many folks do and dose manually every day. If you want it automated then you'll need something like the ESV doser or a peristaltic type pump that will dispense two fluids. I use the aquamedic twin doser for B-ionic which works well, although it does require a slight amount effort to make sure that both pumps are dosing equally.

Oh, and make sure you dose them separately and if it's done simultaneously they should not be dosed in the exact same spot in your sump or tank.

First things first. You spend a crapload of cash to set up your tank. You spend enough time on the tank to get the wife/girlfriend/boyfriend pissed which also translates to stress. Right now you are out money, time and you added stress. After investing all that the last thing you need is for something to go wrong. Overdosing will burn everything and give you white water. Underdosing will not make anything grow.

The first thing. Know exactly how much you need to add to get the ideal conditions. http://reef.diesyst.com/ is the best calculator out there. Dead on Balls accurate!!!

If cash is low, get some measuring spoons and dose manually. Dont waste your time with something that is more prone to failure than you and a measuring spoon or a proper doser. Save a bit here and there and in no time you will have the cash for either a aquamedic or a litermeter. At least you can be positive that things are working properly

Don't shoot down my doser Herm, it works. But if i had a choice, yes i would go for the litermeter. But at 300+ for a single pump, that's kind of steep. Manually works, but what happens when you go on vacation? There's a lot of ways to skin a cat, just pick the best one!

It works because you are a diligent dude. youve proven that time after time. Youre just different. The majority of us are lazy bastards. Do you have any idea how many members households I have seen that setup at, unused lying in a heap of other stuff? That is why i recommend against it.

Manually works, but what happens when you go on vacation?

Most people plan their vacations and if in the upcoming months you dont have one then you can dose manually while saving up. Then buy the automated doser.

There's a lot of ways to skin a cat, just pick the best one!

There sure are many ways. I followed my own advice and got the litermeter.
