speed connector fittings

Heya,

Anyone use the John Guest speed fittings for underwater applications?

Only reason i am asking is that there are metal brads inside the speed connector that hold the tubing in place. This isn't a problem if the connection is above water but if its underwater i'm worried it will rust/decay. Looks like aluminum too and its something i don't want leaching into the tank.

what are you doing with it underwater? I have some I ordered. they're screw fittings rather than quick connect.

Lemme look and see if they have metal inside them.
