Housing 2 cucumbers in 1 tank?

I have 1 tiger tail cuc. ITS AWSOME>:yeah: :thrash: :snail:. Its 1 of the best sand sifters that I have kept in my tank......
Today I was gonna get 1 more but held back because I dont know exactly if that will be ok for the organism's health...?!
Also I read that its ok to keep 3" per 20 gallon. My cucumber is about 7" when strached..... What does 1 think, is it ok to house more than 1 in my 48 gallon?

Also how do they reproduce?

By no means take this as expert advice but rather my experience....

I have 6 in a 40 gallon above tank fuge and everything has been fine. I have three sand sifting cucumbers, One black, and two from sealifeflorida.com (tiger/yellow and "common").

This 40 gallon above tank fuge has been housing seahorses and pipefish (other fish too) and is heavily fed mysis three times a day.

IMO if the cucumbers are having a hard time finding what they need to eat they will start climbing the walls (read a lot about this but don't remember where). I have not experienced this with the current stock and they are eating and "pooping" sand like crazy. My guess is because of the heavy feeding of the Mysis, there is more garbage for them to eat.

So I guess what I am saying is the number of cucumbers probably depends on your system. I am probably able to keep more in a small area because of the load of mysis that is constantly on the sand from feedings.
Of course, I have no scientific proof to back that :shhh:

I'm fairly certain that all cucumbers (including yours) has some level of toxicity. Some may be worse than others but they all can kill fish.

All cucs possess holothurin. Just dont piss them off and youll be fine

i agree. make sure it doesn't get caught in any ph or filters. i had one that's very similar to ur tigertail n got grind up. killed off all my fishes within 24 hrs n even parts of some corals. unlike the reg cucumbers,the tigertail type r excellent sand sifters but r also very light n stretchy. it can expand alot n get into all spaces n crevices.

No :bunnies: action they reproduce asexually. A growth on the parent cucumber breaks off and becomes a new cucumber. "NO IT IS NOT A TUMOR"

I believe Cali has them in the same tank. He would be the right person to ask. I believe they like the star variety only. They dont go after seaurchins either. Not too many things will or can eat holothurians. I believe they eat only things in the Asteroidea family. That does not include crinoidea (feather stars), Ophiuroidea (Brittle stars), Echinoidea (urchins).

I had a hungry tiger tail that made its way into the prefilter on my remora skimmer and then dove head first into the maxijet, jamming the impeller. The mysterious quiet that settled over my apartment worried me, but it was too late.

Removing the cuke was something like squeezing a tube of toothpaste. Everything inside was outside.

Luckily none of the fish died from toxicity....

I just finished setting up a new seahorse tank and I am going to experiment with my clean up crew consisting only of cucumbers and hopefully a Kole Tang.

I found that the cucumbers don't miss anything especially if you have enough to cover the sand bed in one day.
