Suggestions: Algae Blenny In Over Flow

Thought I lost the little guy but about two months after he disappeared I found him living in the overflow of my 60g Cube. With the return and drain I can’t get a net in there plus he’s really quick.

Any suggestions to get him out?

The standpipe should only be in place with friction and not glued (could be threaded but rarely). You can pull the standpipe and let the water drain into the sump and let the little guy end up down there where you can safely grab him.

If your going to try this, forgot to mention to make sure your return pump is shut off and that there is enough room in the sump to take the additional water being drained from the overflow.

thanks. that’s a great idea. maybe i can even trap him in then filter sock
