I infer this fish would be okay in my reef so long as I sacrifice the odd duster and alike.

I can't seem to find a definitive answer on how likely it is to eat my clam though.

Anyone had good/bad experience trying to keep this fish with a clam?

I have had a copper banded in my tank for about 2 months now. Has not touched the clams. Went after the dusters a couple of times, but now he doesn't even bother with them.

I tried a long nose a year ago. He sure appreciated me giving him clams for dinner. He was a great fish but a definate no-go with clams.

I have had a copperband in my 180 sps tank along with 3 clams and it has never looked at any of these clams as long as they are up in the rocks. I tried to move my nice derasa last summer and placed it on the sand bed and this fish went after it immediately. I removed it asap and the fish and clam were fine. Weird that as long as my 3 clams have been up in the rocks it even swims by them but has never tried to bite them, but don't place any on the sand bed. HTH...
