Goniopora continued

I was reading that thread about e-bay.......I AM REQUESTING THAT THIS POST STAY OPEN!!!! IF YOU ARE GONNA START SOMETHING THEN BE MAN ENOUGH (OR WOMEN ENOUGH TO FINISH IT OUT!!!! Ok now that I made that statement.....I have had Goniopora in my tank for three years.....kina slow grower compared to the average lethers that i have and etc.....But there it sits three years and 2 months now actually......I provide no special care for her.....maybe im luckey .....whatever..The fact is im gonna say that I have learned more about corals on ebay reading some of those adds then I have from the flame wars on this forum.......I joined this forum a while back.......I loved it at first....Hell it was actually like family.....And I miss those times......Now every where I look all I see is flame posts......And it is sad that I am sitting here typeing one my self......But i have my Club that I recently got started......That is where i talk fish and corals and go to learn......This place reefs.org is where i come to fight for what i believe in when it comes to that.......Now I would like to adress the self appointed Taliban of reefkeeping that will send letters out on behalf of EVERYONE.<~Really wrong....I wrote ebay myself today.......I told them that I have been happy with all my bid and winnings on ebay......hell they are all still alive today.....I told them that I would like to see more of these on ebay.....welcome it.....invite it......you know why ? CAUSE ITS A FREE COUNTRY!

AND IF YOU ARE MAD CAUSE THEY ARE BREAKING THERE OWN RULES? WELL THE OWN IT DUDE!!!! THEY CAN DO THAT AND ITS NONE OF YOUR DAMN BUSSINESS!....And it is not illeagle i told them this too......If you are mad cause they are cutting into your bussiness.....good......When you become big as they are then you can fight them and win. then i can go back to paying a set outragous price for a frag...........I am not here to offend .....but who the hell are people to condemn for what they also do.......Like the man who never really existed once said....."Let the one who is without sin cast the first stone" Thankyou guys and ladies I have missed yall so much for those who remember lets get this place back to the way it used to be..........

I actually thought that flame fests aren't as common as they used to be. ...but there does seem to be 1 or 2 people that likes pushing everybody's buttons...

I like the TALIBAN comment. I think calling people names and stereotyping people is exactly what the reef keeping community needs. People shouldn't speak their mind, especially people who try and make a difference in this hobby. I am very happy that the goni has worked out for you, who knows maybe one day you might be able to speak for the reef community as to how to keep the coral alive. Then again we wouldn't want one persons ideas expressed.

I've had good luck with my Goniopora as well, I think that the claims that it is likely to dye are unfounded, so put that in your pipe and smoke it.

You really ought to get a clue before you start flaming JT for his post. I happen to agree 100% with his position and if you've learned more from Ebay's website than you have from reefs.org's library ( http://www.reefs.org/library ) or from reading books then I'm both shocked and disappointed.

If Ebay has a rule that states they are not to be selling animals, then they should be following the letter of the rule. That is the main beef along w/ the questionable shipping/business practices of some of the sellers. Maybe you missed the post but I believe cjdevito brought up a very good point that EBay has even allowed sellers to sell illegally harvested coral and did nothing to stop it after numerous emails were sent until the Fish and Wildlife Dept was notified. What do you think of that? I have a major problem with that. This was a chance to make a difference in the hobby (reform Ebay's business practices) but I guess people completely missed the boat.

Also, your likening JT to the Taliban is just wrong dude. I've rarely met a more concerned hobbyist. Before you use that simile to describe JT you ought to actually pop onto #reefs and chat there awhile and then make your decision.

In regards to the flame wars: while I don't necessarily like them, you should be thankful that you are able to use a board where everyone has the ability to post their opinion (even if it's way out there) and not have it censored. I'm not going to name names, but there are boards out there that will censor you and remove your posts if they believe you are trying to start trouble (even if you're not and just stating an opposing opinion).
