I have a Yellow Tang, Maroon Clown, Bi Colour Bleeny, Lawnmower Bleeny and a Flame Angel and I feed them blood worm, frozen shrimp, and 2 varieties of flake food. I read that you can go down and buy shrimp from the local food store and feed that to you fish. Is this safe? If not what should I do to the food before feeding it to them. I tried seaweed, as my wife is Japanese and I have a lot of that in the house, but they do not seem to like it. I will try the green lettuce but what else can I feed them. they have already cleaned up most of my algae.

I make my own frozen food from buying seafood from the local Safeway. Shrimp (tiger prawns), scallops, squid, etc. It all gets puree'd in my food processor, with a bit of RO water. I then spoon it into little plastic portion cups and freeze. Each cup is one feeding. Fish get fed this about every other day. And flake foods the other days.

Just make sure you use fresh, or fresh frozen seafood. No cooked or processed stuff.

My fish LOVE it! I also thaw a portion a couple times a week to feed my Bubble-Tip Anemones and Open Brain.

The one thing to be careful of when buying seafood from the supermarket is that it hasn't been treated with preservetives.

I've fed tuna, salmon, shrimp, romaine lettuce, and crab. Shouldn't be anything wrong with pure and raw seafood, well chopped.
