A question for you chemical engineers or others in the know...I want to run a flexable, but hard plastic tubing from my basement(water source) to the next floor up (where the tank is). I'm thinking of the same type of tubing used for refrigerator ice makers. I'm concerned about any adverse affects the plastic can have to water quality due to exposure to salt water and alternately long term exposure to RO water.

Thanks in advance,
MO

hi.
PE (poly ethyl) tubing, more specifically, LLDPE used in drinking water application, is suitable for saltwater and RO/DI applications.

I use 1/4" ice machine tubing to go from my RO/DI to my 100 gal goldfish tank, 20 feet away. I emailed aqua FX and they said that it was okay, and that is what they do when they have to get water long distances from the RO/DI unit.
