I just recently purchased some corals and was wondering if you needed to turn off your skimmer when feeding them. Also wanted to know if anyone runs there skimmer all the time or if you turn it off once in a while?

I run mine 24x7, except when feeding. I leave it off for about a half hour to an hour afterwards.

I turn my RD2 off every Saturday night when I feed either(alternating) Golden Pearls or Tahitian Blend. I plug in back in Sunday at noon.

My skimmer goes crazy and froths like a maniac if I dont unplug at feeding time.

I leave mine running 24/7. The reason I do is when I feed I am also giving selcon soaked MYSIS to the anemones in the tank. I don't have to turn the skimmer off as it basically quits skimming when I feed. I think the oil in the selcon or from the shrimp inhibit the organics from sticking to the bubbles the skimmer is producing thus keeping it from stripping the other foods I feed from the water column for a hour or more.
