Your going to be dealing with algae, and a few other blooms, real soon now, and over the next few months.

Your test results look great. Looks like you're almost finished with your initial cycle. Have fun. Keep your spirits high. Algae blooms have been known to humble even the mighty.

THIS TANK WILL HOUSE CLAMS AND SPS ONLY

NITRITE- 0.2
NITRATE- 10
PH- 8.2
AMONIA-0.0
CALC- 495 PPM
ALK- 9.0 DKH

I DOSE KALK AT NIGHT WITH A CAP FULL OF VINEGAR SO I DONT WHACK MY PH. I AM WORKING ON BRINGING MY ALK UP TO 11-12 DKH,

Reef-er,

Perhaps you should give us a bit more info -

What did you use to start the cycle? (fish, dead shrimp, etc...) If there was not much to "pollute" the tank, then one would not expect to have a high ammonia/um or nitrite reading at this time. If/when you add any coral, clam, or fish, and you feed them, a "new" cycle will start - in a mature tank this is usually quite small, and is not really noticeable.

When do you measure the pH? (morning or night). Once you have algae, corals or clams in the tank, the pH increase after ~ 8-10 hours of MH can be quite high. If you're already dosing "a cap full of vinegar" to keep the pH from going too high, you're bound to have problems later on...

Some comments, if I may...

The vinegar adds carbon to the system, and will cause an increase in diatom growth over the long-term. If you have enough snails, and benthic animals, that's not necessarily a bad thing (food for them...)

The calcium level sounds unnaturally high. If it really is that high (Ca test kits are all quite inaccurate), you're risking a Ca precipitation, which will drastically lower the Ca level.

IMHO, your tank is NOT cycled, or stable enough for *any* coral at this stage - don't rush it. Wait at least 3 months before introducing any SPS or clam (6 months is even better...)

Remember: In this hobby, ONLY BAD THINGS HAPPEN QUICKLY.

i put a cube of brine shrimp in my tank to start the initial cycle, the first night i had water in my tank. then a few more times i dont remember exactly when, i would give it a squirt from the turkey baster when i was feeding my other tank

You could lay off the kalk for now--you don't have any significant Ca++ load in your tank.
