Anyone know how to improve berlin type skimmers?

I have a berlin type skimmer, with wooden air diffuser. I was thinking of going with a double outlet air pump, and adding another wooden diffuser. Anyone did any innovative things to there skimmer to improve performance. My skimmer works fairly well but I would like it to work at maximum performance.

When I looked at this thread, I was thinking it was a RedSea Berlin skimmer. Obviously it isn't, though.
To get your skimmer to work best, you need lots of water flow and lots of bubbles. Make sure your water pump is adequate, too!
The extra air pump and diffuser would help, too, if you have enough water flow!

90 gallons aquarium.
What would be the recommended water flow through the skimmer be to adequately skim this size aquarium??

I don't have an answer for you but I use a Sen 700G on my RedSea Berlin. It pumps 700 gallons/hour; my aquarium is a 40 gallon breeder. You probably don't need a "proportionate" pump (i.e. 1500 gallons/hour) but you WILL need to move plenty of water through!
