I have some interesting fish behavior as well. We have a 58g in my office which I maintain. I have two precula clowns, a yellow tang, and a cleaner wrasse. The two clowns are not supposed to graze on alge, the yellow is not supposed to dig his nose in the sand, and the wrasse has a habbit of swiming up the pump return and riding down it like a slide, shooting out and banking around the rocks. I also have observed the Tang eating mysis shrimp as well as brine, and I mean acting carnivourus. The Wrasse will chase his tail for about 10 minutes or untill he gets dizzy. One precula rubs his forehead in the sand and the other eats upside-down/inverted in a alcove on the rock. So I think your maroon kissing the yellow was not near as bizzare as my wrasse using the pump return as his personal water slide. I am not kidding all of this has been happening over the last week or so. I am thinking of having the food analyzed for crack, becase this is scaring me. I really worry about what goes on when I am not in the office........

-I think this behavior might be due to the cleaner wrasse slowly starving.

Steve,
The Wrasse eats like a pig. Mysis shrimp are his favorite, but he will destroy some brine flakes, or nori if the tang lets him near it. I posted back when I got him asking about his eating habbits and everyone slammed me for buying him. Well he eats like a pig, no matter what I feed him. I actually just fed him and he was chewing up a peice of mysis, and would shake it like a dog does when trying to rip it up. I am almost worried he eats to much, as when he finishes he has a pot belly under/behind his gills. It always goes away the next moring and he is waiting to be fed again.

my yellow tang and maroon clown have always been buddies. last night my yellow tang swam up close to my maroon who was resting in his BTA, and the yellow tang just waited there like the clown was supposed to do something - kinda like a fish would do to a cleaner wrasse/shrimp. the clown slowly swam up to the yellow tang and gently closed his mouth on the tang's head for about 1 second, and then went back into his BTA. anyone know what that was all about?
