hello everyone,

I have been using live DT as food, but yesterday my LFS, and all other I called, were out of stock so I bought Marine Snow (i think that is what it is called).

I know there was a report, later found out to be incorrect, that Marine Snow was basically worthless, but I have never used it. Should I keep trying to find the live DT, or would you use Marine Snow? I have a little of everything, SPS, LPS, softs and clams.

Thanks,

Eddi

Hey eddi,
I think the report you are thinking of refers to Combisan, also made by the same company.

Marine snow is probably perfectly fine food, but it is not the same as DTs, which is live phytoplankton. I believe that SPS corals don't utilize phytoplankton, so the marine snow might actually be more useful for them.

Dan

thanks for the quick reply. I was sure the report I heard was on Marine Snow, but now I am not. Immaterial I guess.

Would you combine the two then?

Probably a combination would be best. You can look in Bournemanns new coral book for a nice recipe for feeding corals. You can also look around for that article rating the foods, I think it was by Ron Shimek.
