Ive got a softball size mushroom im trying to remove, and hes not making it very easy. Ive tried prying his foot from the rock with a credit card, and he just starts to melt. His foot tears and it seems that Id have to pretty much chop his foot off at the base to get him off. If I stay as close as possible to the rock, and only remove the tissue I have to will it live? Will the fluid he pukes out mess with my water quality?

THanks in advance for any advice,
Dustin

Mushrooms are tough to kill - you have to go out of your way to achieve that

Chop the top off with a razor-blade or scissors (as close to the base as you can) and relocate to where you want it to go - it will take a few weeks to reattach itself so you way want to hold it in place with some netting or similar (there are many other options - maybe do a search for threads on this).

If you just do this then the base will definetly grow back into another mushroom - to get rid of the base you need to apply a generous amount of concentrated Kalk paste (50% powder + 50% water) - enough to completely cover the stump. That usually kills it off in one go.

If you chop the flesh you remove into 20 pieces then you'll grow twenty new mushromms. It's really tough to go wrong with mushrooms. They're the easiest thing imaginable to reproduce - well maybe Aptasia is easier
