I tried using a plastic scraper, and it left hairline scratches everywhere. Am I missing something or is there a better way to do it??? I would like to here from all the acrylic tank owners and how they curb algae in their tank. I was also wondering what critters are best for leaving a film free surface on acrylic. Thanks in advance.

Algae free make kick butt magnets....Love 'em. They have pads for glass OR acrylic. They are expensive, but IMO worth it.

Kent Pro series scrapers are good too. I maintain a 200 gallon acrylic tank and I can't reach the bottom of the tank, and the Kent scraper rocks. Also, I've used the Python Algae mitt....don't laugh I thought it was silly but I got a free one at a club meeting and decided to give it a try.....works REALLY well and doesn't scratch.

Of course, one always has to be careful when scraping/scrubbing near the bottom, picking up a grain of sand in the scraper/pad/magnet will scratch the heck out of your tank
