Kalwassar is german for 'Chalk Water' and is Calcium Hydroxide (CaHO-). It was the first popular method to replace depleted calcium. It has to be dripped slowly, and must sit around after being mixed - so many think it is a pain to use.

Element 38 of the periodic table, below calcium, thus having similar chemical properties. I have heard it was the sole discovery that made longterm SPS in captivity possible - I have also heard it does nothing useful at all in reef tanks.

What are all the supplements that should be added to a 90 gal reef tank?
IMHO - Put more money/time/faith into test kits and testing more often (Calicium, Ph, Alkalinity, Nitrate), and less into addatives. Gather whatever advice you can from successful, more experienced reefkeepers. Lacking that - follow label directions.

I currently add b-ionic calcium and reef builder.
Well, I strongly recommend figuring out what is in 'em, and why you are adding them.
