Moving a tank???

If I move live sand/rock with a good part of the water and fish/inverts from an existing tank to my new tank is there a problem with cycling the tank? Would I be ready to go?

Is anything in the new tank already? If not, there should be no cycle unless something dies off that overloads the filtration capacity that is already in your LS/LR. If the new tank contains any uncured LR, the tank will likely cycle, depending on how much LR we're talking about. Is the new tank of a different size? In any event, I would not add any additional livestock until the addtional substrate material [if a larger tank] matures as critters multiply to fill it.

The new tank is empty. I have come across a couple of people trying to sell their whole setup. If I purchase the live sand/rock and livestock as well as move a large portion of the water, can this all be safely and immediately added to my own tank?

Assuming their setup is cycled...

You should not have a problem. I totally agree not to add any additional livestock until you are sure there will not be a cycle.
