woke up this morning to find a recently acquired show piece of xenia had been severed 3/4 of the way at the base of the stalk. Any suggestions for what to do now??

Leave it alone but try to figure out who is doing the hacking in your tank.

Any green brittle stars in that tank? I witnessed my gbs chomping on a xenia stalk more than once.

Xenia attatches pretty fast so I would leave it alone and like previous posts, I would watch it to see if it is being eaten at by something. To give you an idea I just propogated my xenia. To do so, I just took a piece of tonga branch and laid it next to one of the xenia bases that had to stocks. In about three days it was attatched to the branch. In about 5 days it was alomst completely seperated by itself. On around the seventh day I cut the small remaining peice with a razor blade. It was like a half inch by half in chunk of flesh. That was it. Both look great day after and two days later like new...
