I've had the new screw in compact florescent bulbs in for 3 days now. They're Verilux 20 watt, 6500k and they just literally screw into the regular 10 gallon hood with no modifications necessary. So far, so good, the light looks nice and white. I'm going to wait a few days and make sure everything is OK before putting any corals in there. This was too easy. I'm waiting for an axe to fall..... will keep you all posted!
