i been to some lfs and noticed an ecosystem style of filtration. I want to build one instead of buying the $400 ecosystem itself. I just wonder if anyone can show me their ecosystem, or layout that they have....
Another question on the ecosystem is that, i dont understand why the sump baffle where the water comes in has a 1/2 " slot, like this: |xx|

with the bioballs being the x's. I dont see the reason for slot, making it an upper and lower baffle..
Im not goin to buy the miracle mud aka backyard dirt for the high prices they're charging, and so anyone reccomend anything else that seems to work for them, half aragonite and live sand maybe??? And do i need a pwerhead in the sump for circulation, or a good pump will suffice for the ecosystem to work??
