Hitchhiker crab problems...

A couple of weeks ago I got my first glance at a common rock crab. He apparently came as a free gift with my LR order from Gulf View (great rock!!!).

This thing is quite large! It's approx. 1.5 to 2" in body width. It's digging up and moving a ton of sand underneath my rocks! Yesterday he was stalking my Sally litefoot.

It's time for him to go to the sump. I have tried for a week the glass trick. The only creature taking the bait is my peppermint shrimp.

I think the problem is the crab never leaves the sandbed from what I can tell. using the glass trap trick requires the glass to be tilted at a 45 degree angle which means the entrance is off the sandbed.

Any trapping ideas or off-the-shelf traps?

Try the inverted soda bottle trick. Cut the top opening of a liter plastic bottle just a bit larger than the crab. Then cut completely around the bottle at the point where the tapper ends and the bottle goes straight down. Then clean it good, no soap. Then silicon the top back on the bottle with the tapered part going in. Set it right on the bottom with bait in it. The crab will find its way in but not out, since the opening will be above it and it keeps looking around the edges to find its way out. Good luck.
