I've been having some difficulties placing my seriatopora hystrix so that it doesn't get _burned_.
I've got 2x250W ab-aqualine MHs on my 60cm (~24 inch) deep tank.

The brown basecolor gets light brown on the sides of the branches that faces the light. The polyps are green... The branches are a bit thin, so I think the coral has been living in the deeper regions. Otherwise the coral seems to be doing fine.. fully extended...

How much light can your seriatopora take (and btw, do you feed it)?

How much is it safe for the color to lighten?

I have what was sold as a gold bird's nest....brownish with very thin branches. I keep it just above the sandbed under 250 HQIs. It still bleaches much of the color from the upper sides of the branches. Part of it is growing under a ledge and is slower growing but better color. Seems to be a better VHO or pc coral for coloration. Grows as fast as a digitata though.
