I am looking ta upgrading my protein skimmer from my sea clone (don't get it it is horrible) to a Berlin Turbo HO, anyone had experience with this? Thanks. Anyone else have a similarly price hang on model that works better?
I have had one for over a year now. This skimmer is only good for small, lightly stocked tanks - don't go by what the specs say. Another thing is that it requires constant cleaning to keep it working. Also make sure that you get the new impeller which is lighter than the old one.
I have a customer that had one for a whole of 1 day.. the unit leaked, the water started a short which led to a fire which caused considerable damage. (no I didn't sell it to him). The prism I had purchased to test to see if I wanted to carry them also leaked and ruined the stand on the aquarium it was on.. I've heard the leak story on both skimmers too many times. I just don't think they are very well constructed.
