2x96W PC's on a 55

I'm planning on putting a 10,000K and a 7100K on my 55. There 96W, so this gives me about 3.5W/G. Will this limit what I can keep in the coral dept. Would doubling this amount be a good idea, or would that be too much light(7W/g)?

With 2 96s on a 55, you can keep soft corals, LPS, shrooms, polyps, and not much else. Four 96w bulbs will allow you to also keep many SPS, and derasa or squamosa clams. If you could cram one or two more in there, IMO you can keep anything you want.

However, I would still recommend MH if you don't want to be limited on what you can keep. You will save a lot of money in the long run if you get MH to start out. What do you want to keep though?

Check out the lighting setup on my 55 (see link below) 2x96w PC actinics with 2x175w MH, retrofit. With this setup, IMO, you can keep whatever you like - at least lighting won't be a problem.
