Lighting... Good question

Ummm... i am looking for a reasonably priced lighting system, if you know of any i would like to hear of it, whether it be DIY or bought online. would rather do fluorescent or compact, something that with fit on top of the tank. and another good question is when you set these up over your tank, do you need something that protects it from evaporation?? glass top or some type of flimsy clear piece??
