Found a two-part Super Glue Epoxy Adhesive @ Home Depot. Anyone have any thoughts on whether this stuff is reef safe? I've used Super Glue Gel with mixed results....

TIA

Just that I have found that sometimes the corals don't adhere to the rocks, and I find them floating in the tank....always looking for something a little 'more better'....

Ernie,

superglue works ok, but it is hard to get softies to stay attatched to the rock, even with the glue.
I have started using thread and needle to go through the coral and around the rock then using a little superglue as well.

Results were better, but still a few that "got away".

I have a couple cuttings in little cups of gravel now to see if that is a better way. Let it attatch to a piece of gravel then glue that to a live rock...

I don't know about the one you used, but the puties and 5 min.epoxies available at hardware stores, are not water resistant!
Here is my experience with adhesives:
- For corals they primarely use super glue gell, but didn't work for me (as others mentioned above).I even had originally attached shroom to a shell and glued the shell to a rock and the shroom just left the sight( slowly, within days).
- To attach rocks, use the bond-fast putty form lfs.It hardens under water, but tie the things down for 24 h not to move.Than is hard enough.
- For DIY projects I used 5 min. Epoxy syringe # 12 (from Lepage). This is the only one water safe, the others will bond, but within weeks, will release the surface.

My oppinion is that if it doesn't say on the product that's water resistant,it isn't.

Good luck

I have used the superglue epoxy(the two-part clear glue)....it gets very hot and you also have to wait a little while before it completly dries leaving your corals out of the water....i wouldnt think its reef safe bcause the fumes from it are too potent...almost smells like burning plastic. I would just stick to the superglue gel....I always had good results with it.
