My two Firefish have holed themselves up in a cavity within a larger piece of live rock. Through a small hole i can see what looks like a clear bubble looking mass.

My two firefish are great tank mates and have always hung around with my other fish out front in view.
Now they are nowhere to be seen except for the larger one appearing for a few minutes a day.

Kinda cool huh?

I, too, would like to know about what they do as it happens. I have a pair of firefish, and they exhibit the same behavior as your, yet I cannot see into their cave. I'd love to have some little firefish swimming around...

Peace,

Chip

My firefish are doing the same thing. I thought they were dying, but then one of them came out. I can see partially into the cave where they are, but can't see what they are doing or why they are in there. One of them very rarely comes out to eat and then quickly goes back to the cave. Hmmmmm.......

i did find a baby one once but he didnt make it. mine were always out all the time then they started acting funny. one would be out by the hole at all times and the other one only came out to eat then dissappear again. also this was the only time they showed aggression. the one that stayed out would go after the other fish if they got to close and go into a short chase then back again. after a while they both started coming out again. i found the little one when transferring sand from a smaller tank to a bigger one and it was darting around. but it was so fast couldnt catch it. we saw it for about 2 weeks then it dissappeared  dont know what happened to it. i cant see in the area where they hide to see anything though. i would love to find some more babies but the other fish would probably find them first
