Algae Probs Diminishing?

Recently I was using liquid supplements to dose calcium and keep alk levels up when I started to have some slight problems with green hair algae. I recently decided to use kalkwasser instead of the liquid supplements and have noticed the hair algae hair starting to diminish and flake off. Also my corraline was slow to take growth which I figured was from the competition of the hair algae. Not that I am complaining, just wondering what is causing the hair algae to suddenly recede and will my corraline algae population finally take off? TIA
