i have kept alot of clowns and the best way to keep differing types of clowns together is to by tank raised captive breed fish I have kept percs skunks tomatoes and clarkis together this way and even one maroon with them However.............

maroon clowns are notoriously aggressive clown fish they are agreessive towards other clowns and down right nasty to other maroon clown fish.

If you have ever seen two maroons together in one tank chances are they are a mated pair one small the other large.

Or captive raised small maroons not YET big enough to become aggressive (read yet as not ready to kill other maroon til tommorrow)

I know you dont want to hear this but if you place two maroons in one tank the most likely outcome will be either one is male and the other female and they will pair up or they are both the same sex and one will kill the other for spite !

I did not believe this myself when i started keeping clowns til I sacrificed two maroons to a clown ill just call Bozo the ripper

if you really want a maroon then keep just one or pay through the nose for a mated pair it will save you alot of stress see signature at bottom of this page and understand that i was the fool when it came to maroon clowns

Thank Rich-N-Poor for your advise. My stiuation is that they both maroon, one maroon is with white stripe(medium) and the other is maroon with yellow stripe(small). Well when i fist put them together they fight like crazy, but now the white stripe that over because he bigger. They dont fight anymore and seem like "kinna get along". so i Just wonder Can two kind of maroon be pair up?.

I had to consult Wilkerson's Clownfishes first, so let me summarize: The yellow striped maroons come from the waters around Sumatra. The difference is stripe width and coloration is a geographic difference. They are both of the species Premnas biaculeatus.

It sounds like the larger white stripe is the female and the smaller yellow stripe is the male. If their genders are not determined yet (ie,. both are still males), this is what the white stripe will becomes. The females can reach 5 inches, while the males stay around 2 inches.

I keep a tomato clown in one tank and false perculas in other tanks and picked up Wilkerson's book as background. Great reading, especially if you are interested in breeding them.

As long as they pair up which it sounds like yours are, they will be fine. I currently have a breeding pair that is that exact way--A large female white stripe and a small male gold stripe.
It is hard to tell sometimes when the clowns are small if they are gold or white stripes as they all start their lives out with white stripes.
