I need some tips to help me take better - more vivid and colorful pictures of my tank. I received a canon s100 digital elph as a wedding present and have been trying to take some pictures of my tank... they aren't coming out as vivid or colorful as i'd like - please help!

lights on or off? flash off? macro mode? i'm a developer, no photographer!

Do you have actinic lighting? If so, turn it off for the pictures. I got much better results with Aquasuns only, no actinic.

try turning out all the other lights in the house but leave the tank light on. if you can, turn off the flash on your camera. hope this helps, it'll at least get rid of the reflection problem.

Definitely turn off the flash. If your camera has a manual mode and you have a tripod or something to put the camera on, try manual. The slower you take the picture, the better it will turn out. Also, check your instructions to see if you have a special setting for taking close pictures. That setting will allow you to get closer to the subject than the regular setting. If I can help with anything else, let me know.
