No, that sucks. They have known about that for a long time. I bought mine in February and it broke a few months later and they told me the impeller story as well. I also told her I was not impressed with the performance (I get no skimmate) and asked for the retro kit to convert it to the classic so I could put a stronger pump on it. She insisted this new impeller would make all the difference. Wrong. I hate mine.

I have the TURBO and get nice dry scum. It is just as quiet as my old bakpak and pulls much more gunk.

My skimmer has been getting noisy the last little while. The pump is making a ticking noise. I emailed Red Sea, told them about my problem. They emailed me back withen an hour telling me to send my address. They have redesigned the impellor and will send me a replacement. Excellent customer service!

Please explain "dry scum". How do I properly adjust my skimmer? How do I know if it's working properly?

Well,if you turn the pump up within one to two bars from max and adjust the air from the screw until until the air is right at the skirt you should have some nice dry scum(very dark green black in the cup). But after listening to the pump and air intake I agree that there is a strange ticking noise and have requested a reply from REDSEA. My bubbles are OK for now but the noise is unbareable at night when the TV is off.

WOW! I got two impellors in the mail today. I will install one tonight and report back.
(makes you wonder why they sent two! hehehe)
