Hi folks,
Anyone know of a link for plans for a hood for my 55? It is a standard sized 55.
I want to run 4 VHO bulbs driven by two Icecap ballasts - a 430 and a 2000. Don't ask why those two ballasts and not a 660. I already own the ballasts, so I'm stuck.
I also would like to include 2 four inch fans; one intake and one exhaust.
I'd like to keep the ballsts in the hood.
And I'd like the hood to rest on the tank, but be moveable for feeding & maintainence.
Thanks.

I just yesterday completed the transformation of the standard Oceanic 58 gallon canopy to better support a 4*96w PC setup. Whereas before I had the PC fixture retrofitted into the canopy frame, requiring the canopy be fully removed for purposes of servicing the tank, now I have attached the retro fixture to the removable canopy lid. This required that I remove the center brace from the canopy. Finally, I hinged the lid to the base so the lid and PC fixture pulls up and back the canopy, allowing full access to the tank top. I mounted 2 4 inch fans along the back for cooling. This setup also allows the PC fixture to be about one inch further from the water surface so more air circulation and less heat transfer occur.

We are putting 3 vho's on our 55 next week. (Not sure the 4 would fit very well) We have 4 on the 72 gallon and works great. All we added was one fan on the other and it was enough (the back open on the hood made a tremendous difference) It was raised to about 7" to keep heat and evaporation rate to a maintainable figure.

I'm sure 4 VHOs will fit atop there. I have 4 on there now. It is just that mine are in ugly shop light fixtures. I want to build a nice hood.
Does anyone have a link for plans to build a hood for a 55?
