Got worms?

And if so, how big are they?

The best worm population we have is in our 37 gal. seahorse tank. Don't know why but they really seem to thrive in there. When we feed they all start to come out. Many live in the rocks. There is one big pinkish/orangish fella who I have seen about 7" of so far and he is still back into the rock. We also have a big blue/gray one that doesn't come out very far but is just a little under 1/2" wide. I've seen a number of other large worms and many many smaller ones in this tank. There are lots of small tracks in the sand but I really like the big guys who live in the rocks.

So what's the biggest worm you've seen in your tank(s)?

I'd have to say the same about my 37 horse tank too...

I think it's because there are no predators of those worms in that tank. If I added a six-lined wrasse, I'd bet the worm population would slide fast.

I have a refugium on this tank too, with lots of live sand, and there are tons of worms in that.

The other day I saw a long worm (6" or so that protruded from the rock) and one of my horses used it as a holdfast!

I've seen several in my 80 gallon reef that were 12-18" long. They're about 3/8" wide and flattened when they are out and cruising at feeding time. Lots more in the 4-6 range.

I have seen hundreds in my 70g reef. At night, tons of them come out of the sand and live rock. There are a number of different kinds too.

When I feed my inverts, I usually put some shrimp on the sand for the worms. It's always gone the next morning.
