Basement sump/refugium pictures
Well, I finally got a couple of pictures of my new sump setup. Unfortunately they are very low resolution and don't really show too much detail, but it's a start

When I moved about a month ago I added a basement sump/refugium. I just took a 125g tank and added acrylic baffles to it. Now all of my equipment (and the noise) is in the basement.

The refugium doesn't have much in it yet, just a VDSB and about 20lbs. of LR. I just bought the lights for it so I will add some macros soon.

Let me know what you think, thanks.

Here's a full shot of it:

What sort of flex tubing is that? Flex PVC? Did you use PVC cement to glue them into the PVC joints?

Yes, it's spa flex PVC and you use PVC cement to glue it. It's the easiest stuff to work with. You don't have to be overly precise like standard PVC and you don't use barbs like the vinyl tubing. It's real heavy duty stuff.

Thanks everyone for all of the positive posts. I spent months planning everything out and a few stressful days actually setting it up.

I'm now starting to think about my next big project, building a canopy and deciding on a light setup

Talk about stress!

Frank, great job looks fantastic, you got enough room to work there?

Merkur we don't have basements in South Ga either so I had to confiscate one of our closets to put my sump and refugium in. I can tell you that after doing that I could never go back to having all my equipment under the stand.

Where did you purchase the Spa Flex. I assuume from the name it's for Spas and probably where I would find the stuff. Is it non toxic.

One word dude SWEET. My eyes fill with envey. Keep up the good work, and taking the time for all the planning. Most people get in a big hurry and end up changing things more than once.

Bryan, The first place I saw it was at my LFS, they wanted $2.50 a ft

You can get it at any local plumbing supply or from www.savko.com for $0.74 a foot. It's as safe as using regular PVC.

Thanks again everyone.
