Over the weekend I move all my corals from a 75g 18" deep with 660w VHOs to a 225g that is 30" deep (acualy 24" if take out for the DSB)
with 3 400w M/H (65k-10k-65k)
Question is how long should I take before I go to a full 10-12 hour photo period?

Right now I am only running the light for 4.5 hours per day do I add a 1/2 hour per day?
or go slower?

The corals are Mixed softs,LPS and SPSs

I tried to keep them relative distance to the light that they were.

Mustang - I upgraded from a 175watt 10k to a 400 watter. I spread it out over a few weeks. I started at two hours a day and added one hour each week. Take your time and you won't lose anything.

Howdy,

Second Toadally. Keep the 4 hours you have now, and add an hour each week. If all your corals are looking fine, you may add 1 hour the first week, 2 hours the second, 3 the 3rd week.

The best advice I can give it to watch the corals and see how they respond. Let's say you get to 6 hours a day and some corals start to recede or show signs of "damage", take an hour off the schedule until they acclimate.

Your corals are going to be the ones who can tell you what they need. Keep a close eye on the lower light species and you'll do fine.

Good luck,

Scott.
