tank raised are the most hearty disease resistant clowns you can buy they cost more but are worth it

I love my percs they are costantly visible and very interactive they like to look back at you when ever you are near the tank

they come to the top everytime i walk by on the off chance i will feed them

i feed mine flake and some frozen brine

percs are a little more choosey than tomatoes or clarkies when it comes to hosting in an anenome

excellent choice a good beginning fish you will want to keep forever

I agree with Rich.
Clowns that are born and raised in captivity are alot more hardy then ones that are wild cought. Mine have great personalitys and are very much fun to watch. I have a male and female. Not breeding yet but hope they do soon. I have a long tentical anemone in the tank but neither of them want anythign to do with it.. they much rather be in the host bubble coral...*L*
They are IMO one of the best fish that you can get. There really entertaining.

Hope this helps you.

my pair are great too! the female sleeps in the upper corner near a powerhead while the male sleeps and mostly hangs out on a rock ledge. during the day they swim all over the tank. they get along great except for a 2 week span about 3 months ago. i thought the little male would be killed. from what info i could find this is common though as they choose their sex. they eat flake, frozen brine and an occasional nibble of seaweed selects my sailfin tang tears off.

I also have a pair of tank raised percs, and they're wonderful. They have bonded with a long tentacle anemone and a green bubbletip (that recently split), and are everywhere in the tank. It took them about 1.5 months to bond with the anemones. They really are wonderful to watch. I also feed spirulina enriched flake and frozen brine shrimp. The female sleeps in the LT, the small male in one of the bubble tips. I also just noticed yesterday the female may be pregnant. :)

Peace,

Chip

Thanks guys!
I've got mine last night.
Lfs had a tank full of them.At my request, they highly expressed how good the tank raised ones are.
After introduced, mine was in the mid section, looked kind of lost in nowhere, desoriented.(As you said, with 50 others in a tank + other species and not reef enviroment...)
OK.It had dinner(frozen shrimp)and after it moved to the top,circleing a PH.
It slept on top in the back of the tank.
I was concerned to see it allways on top chasing air boubles,I though it might have oxigen deprivation or something.
Now that you guys told me,is normal,I'm calmed.Today, first morning in the new tank,is very active on the top.I think it looks for flake food.I only used frozen food for my other fishes(2eel gobys,1fire g.)I have to check with lfs what they fed them.I'll buy flake food too.Important is that it eats.
My question is:I have a bouble coral(no anemone),will it move in it?Still, the bouble is closed at night time.
How do you recognize what sex they are?

Yes,it looks back at you when you're looking at he/she.
Have a gret long weekend!

when i first got my tank raised, they spent all their time around a powerhead in the top corner of a 240 gallon reef, I think they were a bit daunted by the size and the change (they were tamk raised with many others in a tank with no rock/sand/corals etc) but after a while, they took to the tank great, I have one pait hosted by a sebae and one pait in a bubble tip and they are the centerpiece of the tank, great hardyy animals, definately go with tank bred if you can get them.

i called mine frick and frack since they are always together what did you name yours ?

Im not sure but i think ive read a post about somones clowns hosting in a bubble you could check the archive to find out

percs seem to be more selective about their host than say clarkis which will host in about anything in one of my tanks
