A Anonymous Guest Rating - 0% 0 0 0 Oct 6, 2001 #5 Pickling lime is Calcium Hydroxide, just like kalkwaser. It's used to add calcium to the tank, also buffers alkalinity and I think may have some effect on phosphate as well. GLenn
