Is anyone running a 400w Blueline Eballast and using a Radium-400watt 20000K bulb? Does this work okay,look good, or any other suggestions? I was think about upgrading to these type of bulbs and was looking for any pros or cons.
I believe DR. MAC uses Radiums on this ballast.
I personally use this bulb but on a PFO HQI ballast.
Is there an advantage to either or disadvantage?
Some claim the HQI ballast burns brighter.
Electonic ballast run cooler and I believe are lighter. Other than that I dont know.
I will swear by 400 watt 20K.
I run that setup. I like it very much. Seems very bright to me. Takes about 3 to 4 weeks for the bulbs to burn in to the white color. very blue at first. Mine have been running for 4 months or so.
I don't have spiderlight reflectors over them yet but I held them over the bulb and WOW they make a difference. almost seems twice as bright. Also my corals like them and the coraline is coming back from my Iwasaki days.
