I am so excited! My clowns a couple of days ago laid eggs and are now taking care of them. I can actually see the babies eyes and bodies in the eggs. I have a couple of questions. First how long does it take for the eggs to hatch and second do I have a chance of them staying alive. Do clowns protect theri young? Please respind if you have any experience. Their are in my 90 gallon reef with all kinds of criters.

Your clowns will protect the eggs until they hatch. My experience is about 10 days after they are laid they will hatch. Give or take a day or so. Once hatched though, they are fair game to the tank inhabitants including the proud parents. The only means of survival is to remove the eggs prior to hatching and hatch them and raise them in a separate breedout tank ... Get a book by Joyce Wilkerson ... that is a great resource.

Congratulations and Good Luck

My next question would be should I remove the whole rock and place it in another tank or could I pull the eggs off and put them in one off those hatcheries you use for fresh water fish and keep them in the main tank? Also what is the best method to feed the newly hatched fish and what should be feed?

It takes a lot of detication to raise clowns.
You need to raise greenwater to feed to rotifers to feed to the larval and then hatch artemia to feed the larval. You clowns will continue to do this so if you want to raise the babies get Clownfishes as previously mentioned read it and then deciede if you still want to. It is a great book.

I have babies right now. Most are in the overflow and are flurishing. I have seen some under the rock that have been hiding out. I'm wondering what the survival rate is if left alone.
