I have a 55 gal semi-reef setup. I have had it for about 2 years. I recently traded my cpr bak-pak for a hang on wet/dry filter. So I have a few questions.

The pump I got sometimes doesn't start after being unplugged, I don't know what kind of pump it is so I think I should buy a new one.......which one?...on a budget... I know Rio's are not favored here....but I have had good luck with them in the past. Also How do I figure out how big of a pump I need. I do not know how much flow my overflow box has, but it looks like a 3/4" U tube, maybe 1".

The wet/dry is a sealife systems rated for 75 gallon tank...(if that helps)

Any help is appreciated

Maxi jet or Aqua clears. Both dependable. But you are going to have to guess on the GPH you need.

I use a mag drive. Just stick in in your sump. Add a ball valve as well in case you need to reduce the flow. I don't have problems with it restarting after a power outage.
