Thanks KathyC. I'm not sure what brand of tank though, no markings, decals etc. The LFS wants $60 for top brace & silicone; but must know brand. Also said it's a PITA to remove w/o scratching, chipping glass. I went to Petlands & a new 75 gal AGA was only $120. I think I'll go that route.

I also like the many suggestions to go w/a bigger tank. Maybe down the road.

Either way I'm not going to attempt to repair w/screws, acrylic etc. as I've heard 2 many horror stories of cracked/broken tanks.

Another Quickie: My fish, corals & rock are in 55 gal temp, holding tank. As I know I'll be transferring to larger tank in future, I didn't put in sand. I have sand in bucket, apx. 50 lbs. Due to move & unpacking it is still in bucket. If I wash it is it still good? - not live sand any more though....

The LFS is giving you a bad price on the top frame, I'd ask another store for price. A pic of the tank would probably tell you the kind it definitely is.
While a new tank is always a good idea :)....for other that may have to change a frame...they come off very easily if you run a razor blade under the edge on both sides...no scratching, no chipping. A nice bead of silicone , pop the frame on and add some weight..poof repaired tank!

Best of luck with your new tank!!
