I am looking to buy a 1" Sea Swirl. Does anyone have any experience with these? Are they worth the money? Cheapest place to buy?
Thanks

I have a 1/2" model and I'm using it with a Sen 700 return & 2 maxi jet 1200's on a wave strip. I am very happy with this combination on a 46 bow tank, but IMHO without the powerheads on the wave strip there would not be enough current for the entire tank, also I highly recommend that you get the "Y" adapter for the outlet on the SS, that is the only way to get a full 180 degree sweep on the SS.

I use two 1" modles on my 150, I love them. use an Amp Master 3000 on a closed loop with the two SS.

I have both 1/2" and 1" models. I think they are one of the best investments I have made. The 1" model I had to retire however due to it being too loud for my B/R tank.

Too loud? I've spent years and hundreds of dollars to make this quieter! I have a new ampmaster. Do you think two 3/4 would make less noise than one 1"?

The level of noise is all relative, if you have fans running in your hood you probably won't hear the SS. My B/R tank uses no fans in the hood, the sump is in another closet so the only noise I here would come from the tank. I would liken the sound of the 1" to a rotisserie sound, I contacted the folks at SS and they said this was normal.
I can't say if the 2 - 3/4" would work, you might want to contact SS and ask.

mine is utterly silent compaired to the waterfall down the overflows and wistle of the etss skimmer air intake!!

my 1" sea swirl as absolutly fantasic! in fact, if i had my drothers i'd buy two more 1/2" models to install in the corners. along with the 1" in the midle i could dith the couple of powerheads in my tank.

IMO: seaswirls are much more attractive than a bunch of powerheads and do a GREAT job of simulating natural current.
