I am going to attempt to frag a few of my corals and was just wondering if it is safe to use super glue? I have some epoxy but it is a pain to work with and it seems the glue would be much easier.

Yes super glue is OK...you might want to try the gel type stuff, it tends to be easier to work with. I hate super glue for any application, because more often than not I stick my fingers together

and go running for the nail polish remover to get it off

Depending on what you are fragging, rubber bands, bridal veil or even just putting the frags into a shallow dish with some rubble are other ways of attaching them. (Soft corals, of course).

Jenn, ladies always have nail polish remover handy. Unlike us never can find where our wives place those things, we have to use the SOS pads! (ouch.....)

What corals are you attempting to frag? I use the gel super glue all the time. My best experience with it is when the frag coral(softies) is already attached to gravel or small rock. I then dry off a larger base rock, add glue where the frag will go, attach the frag/gravel to the rock and place back in tank quickly. The glue solidifies almost instantly.

I've had no luck at all with superglue. The frags always come loose after a few days. Now I've started using the toothpick and rubber band method for softies. So far, it has worked beautifully every time.

I've also had limited success with superglue. I prefer to use a sewing needle and fishing line. Works great for everything except colts, which are always a pita and are better off being allowed to attach on their own.

For softies, I can never get glue to work. They usually just "shed" the tissue that is attached to the glue and come lose. Using the toothpick method, I'd had frags actually tear apart after a few days and free themselves. Lately, I've been using eggcrate cages. Make an eggcrate box about 1.5" high, and 2"x2" wide. No top or bottom, and held together with plastic wire ties. Set it on a rock, and drop in the softie. Usually attached in a couple days. Then you just snip the ties and the cage falls away.
