I recently got a Cirrhilabrus lineatus for my 90 gallon reef tank. The fish has been doing great and ate the day I put him in the tank. I saw a Cirrhilabrus lubbocki and my lfs and was wondering if they would be compatible. The tank also houses a small purple tang and I want to get a couple of clowns in the near future. Would this be a good mix of fish or would it be to high of a bioload for the tank?

Leonard did an excellent job of discussing wrasses in this thread. Not sure if the 2 you are interested in were discussed, but I'd be surprised if thhey weren't.

Your stocking list sounds fine for a 90 gallon. Scott Michaels states that Cirrhilabrus congenors will fight amongst each other. However, this is not my experience (as well as several others). I have housed two different species of Cirrhilabrus together with no problems whatsoever, and would imagine no problems between a C.lineautus (nice fish!) and a C.lubbocki.

However, a better choice is to buy a C.lineatus female for your male. Cirrhilabrus are haremic, and it's always best to keep haremic fish in groups of one male (which is what I suspect you have) with one or more females. Of course, C.lineatus is a far more expensive fish, so that may affect your decision.

I would love to get a female lineatus but I dont know of anywhere to find one. I asked at The Marine Center and they said they only get the males in.
